Fantastic start for the first meet of the season!

What a fantastic day for the start of the season! Great weather and lots of new faces eager to try little athletics for the first time, with 105 athletes competing today. There were some great efforts by both the new and the returning athletes (must have been inspired by the new shirts!). Results for todays meet (11th October) have been uploaded and can be viewed under the results tab.

We have our first record of the season! Congratulations to Jagga Pybus breaking the Under 14 Boys 200m Hurdle record with a time of 31.36 seconds.

A big thank you to all volunteers who helped out to make sure all the new athletes and parents felt welcome and had a wonderful time. Volunteers are what makes our days run smoothly and we appreciate all those that help in anyway possible.

An extra special thanks goes to Vanessa & John McLeod and Allison Willcox for taking on Tiny Tots at such short notice this week. To Guy Stainsby for operating the BBQ. And to Sally Kovacic for helping with the coaching of the Under 6 age group along side Age Group Manager - Andrew Willcox.

The first couple of meets every season always run longer than regular meets throughout the season, so please bear with us. However once all the children know the routines, understand the different events and our Age Group Managers commence, the meets will run more smoothly. Our aim is to have the younger age groups finished around the same time as Tiny Tots, so those with young families are free to go.

We hope to see you all again next week. Remember to wear comfortable clothes and shoes for running. And remember to bring a hat, a drink bottle, a parent and a big smile.

Having fun with your friends is an important part of little athletics, so don't be affaid to invite your friends along to have a go with you.

We have a special event to be marked into your diary.

On Wednesday the 5th of November Matt Lancaster (Physiotherapist both on a local and national level for Athletics Australia) will be giving a session on stretching, strapping and how to prevent injuries from occuring at Gormley Park from 7-9pm. Cost $10, please register at the canteen or with Jo Boutchard. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Please note: Information on training for athletes and officials has been updated on the website.

On your marks. Get Set. Go!

Welcome to Kingborough Little Athletics 2014-15 Season

Our first meet for the summer season is scheduled for 4 October 2014.

Kingborough Council are working around the clock to make sure Gormley Park will be ready in time, but please check back here or keep an eye on our Facebook page to make sure we have the all clear to use the ground on that day.

In the unfortunate event that the meet is cancelled it will be rescheduled for later in the year.

New Athletes Come and Try

Little Athletics allows you to come and try for two meets before having to become a registered athlete. So come and join us at one of our meets and give it a go. Remember to wear comfortable clothes, shoes for running and a hat, and bring a drink bottle, a parent and a big smile. A canteen and BBQ are available.

For 2014-15 the registration process is entirely online through the Little Athletics Tasmania registration portal. Previous families registered with a current email address will be emailed directly by LATas with login details to streamline the registration process.

Due to changes with the online payment process this season NO FAMILY DISCOUNTS are available if you pay online and payments will incur an additional 6% merchant processing fee.

Family discounts are only available if you pay in person at the Gormley Park clubrooms. Payment methods are CASH, CHEQUE and EFTPOS. The Centre will absorb the merchant fees if you pay by EFTPOS.

To register online please follow this link to the Registration Portal.

Please note that registration will be incomplete until payment has been received in full.
